ANXIETY SPECIALISTS BLOG

Announcement

I am very excited to announce the opening of our anxiety clinic in St. Louis on April 4th, 2022! In this post you’ll learn more about us, how we can help, and what to expect in an initial consultation and therapy session.

New Anxiety Clinic in St. Louis

Our goal is be the the best anxiety and OCD therapist group in St. Louis! We’ve chosen to specialize in this area because of the tremendous progress we see using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. It is deeply rewarding to help people free themselves from the grip of anxiety and live a life that is meaningful and focused on the present moment.

I’ve dreamed of having a specialty anxiety clinic in St. Louis for many years. After two years working in solo private practice, the time seemed right to expand. Early in 2022 I joined forces with Amy Kurz and Dr. Sam Kramer, two other local experts who are deeply passionate about providing evidence based therapy for anxiety and OCD. Together, we will open the doors to our new space this April.

Our Values and Commitments to Providing the Best Anxiety and OCD Therapy

  • Providing quality care: Delivering the highest quality care to our clients is central to our mission. To us, this means staying up to date with innovations and best practices in evidence-based treatment and delivering exposure therapy with sensitivity and creativity.
  • Professional development: We believe that to provide high quality care, therapists need opportunities to think, read, and grow professionally This value is promoted by weekly consultation meetings, attendance at conferences, formal and informal peer supervision, and discussion of books, articles, and new ideas. This also means clients can feel confident knowing their therapist is always growing in their skills.
  • Supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion: We are affirming therapists and engage in ongoing therapist and practice-wide self-assessment, education, and training around cultural competency and anti-racism. We support people identifying as LGBTQIA and work hard to provide a safe space for everyone.

Our Approach

We use highly researched therapy approaches to work with anxiety and OCD. We start with a general treatment plan, then work to individualize it so that it’s tailored specifically to you. We have a structured approach to our therapy. We’re focused on teaching you skills and strategies to learn new ways of dealing with anxiety. Our goal is to give you results. We ask that our clients also make a commitment to therapy and consider it an investment in their future. We give weekly homework and ask that our clients practice skills and complete readings between sessions. Therapy can be hard work but the progress you’ll make is worth it!

What to Expect

If you have any questions, please schedule a free, 15 minute consultation call with our care coordinator. She will answer any questions you might have about our process, the fees, or if we’re a good fit. She’ll also be able to match you with the therapist who’s right for you or your child. You’ll then schedule your intake appointment and be linked in to our online client portal, where you’ll complete online forms and manage your appointments. The first visit can be a little nerve-wracking, but remember that it’s just a chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask you a lot of different questions to fully understand what’s been bothering you and to get a clear sense of your goals for therapy. You should also feel comfortable asking any questions you have. At the end of the meeting you’ll discuss future sessions and your treatment plan, and then the work begins!

If you have any questions or comments, please post below or reach out to schedule your consultation call.
